Caice completes Data Centre project in Berkshire
Caice partnered with Skanska to deliver bespoke weather louvre screens and acoustic panel doors at a Data Centre in Berkshire. Overcoming first-time challenges with integrating electric locks, the team collaborated with specialists to design, test, and install secure, high-performance solutions - creating a developed design now applicable to future Data Centre projects.
Project scope and objectives
For a new data centre facility in Berkshire, Caice were appointed by Skanska Construction Ltd to deliver specialist weather louvre screens and high-security acoustic panel doors. The scope included two PLS100 Weather Louvre screens and four bespoke acoustic panel doors with electric locks, installed to the east and west gantries at VIRTUS Data Centre in Berkshire.
Integrating door security into acoustic design
This project’s primary challenge centred on the bespoke Acoustic Panel Doors. The client required a high level of building security, specifying electric locks as part of the design. This was a first for Caice, requiring innovation, collaboration and the integration of unfamiliar technology into an established product.
Collaboration provided a tailored security solutions
Caice collaborated closely with ASSA ABLOY to adapt its Acoustic Panel Door design to accommodate electric lock fittings. The team developed a practical, robust solution that included internal cable trays and detailed cable diagrams, ensuring seamless installation and full compatibility with the security requirements.

The successful installation delivered both the acoustic performance and the enhanced security demanded by the client. As a result, Caice now has a proven design for high-security acoustic doors, creating a valuable solution that can be replicated and scaled for future data centre projects.
