E-commerce giant Booking.com has opened a new global headquarters for its ground transportation company, Rentalcars.com at Manchester Goods Yard in the heart of Enterprise City, the new media, tech and creative cluster in Manchester.

Creating an inspiring and flexible workspace

BDP the major international practice that creates outstanding places for people, acted as design and build consultants on behalf of independent building services company, Lorne Stewart Group to develop this ‘warehouse inspired’ concept offering flexible workspace and promoting creativity.

Meeting strict acoustic criteria with Caice 4-Pipe FCUs Installation

Caice was asked by BDP to design, manufacture and install 400 4-Pipe Fan Coil Units (FCUs) in an exposed area of the building, to meet strict acoustic criteria. The FCUs were fitted with attenuators and free issued controllers, sensors and Pressure Independent Control (PIC) Valves/actuators, ensuring that workspaces remained quiet. Whilst at the same time, collaborating closely with Lorne Stewart and BDP to align with the client’s vision and product selections met the specification.

Acoustic solution with an aesthetically pleasing finish

Colleagues Frazer Robinson, Sales Manager from the Caice Northern Region Sales Office and Usman Khan, Contract Engineer from Caice Head Office overcame the challenge for an acoustic solution that would keep noise to a minimum whilst creating an aesthetically pleasing and creatively inspiring workspace. By using FCUs specifically designed for an exposed soffit installation, and making sure the finish of the galvanised sheet steel and outer drain trays were to the highest of standards.
